Vintage French Bergère Wingback Armchair Off White

A traditional French bergère à oreilles armchair, featuring an elegant winged back, intricately carved wooden frame and classic cabriole legs. The chair has a lovely aged appearance, with warm, distressed woodwork that adds plenty of character and a sense of history. Possibly gilded originally.
 
The upholstery is an off white patterned fabric, finished with decorative brass-toned upholstery studs. The chair has a sprung seat with webbing and a removable feather-filled seat cushion.
 
It appears to have been re upholstered over the years and would benefit from reupholstery. The fabric has some staining, which I have attempted to clean, but some watermarks remain. The seat cushion has also been washed, although some staining is still visible on the reverse side.
 
The frame is very strong and the chair is a heavy, solid piece. There is some slight movement in the arms and wings, but it remains very usable in its current condition and for its age.
 
With its elegant proportions, carved detailing and wonderfully aged finish, this chair would make a striking addition to a traditional or eclectic interior. It would also be ideal for someone looking for a reupholstery project, offering the opportunity to choose a new fabric and give it a fresh lease of life. Although you might want to fix the frame before investing in the reupholstery.
 
Condition: Vintage/antique condition, with signs of age and use. Upholstery has staining and would benefit from replacement. Some slight movement to the frame. Please see photographs for further details.

Delivery Details
Delivery will be 1 man, ground floor, kerbside and will be 1-2 weeks (or sooner).
If you are unable to assist the courier and require 2 man delivery then there may be an additional charge.
Deliveries within a Congestion Zone may incur an additional £15.
