Beveled Mantlepiece Mirror from France
An antique mantlepiece mirror dating from the 1890s ca, originally from France.
It features a thick, bevelled mirror plate set within a substantial frame that appears to be solid oak with a mahogany wood stain finish, giving it a strong and elegant presence.
The frame is nicely detailed with classical proportions, and the mirror has two brass hooks at the top, allowing it to be securely attached to the wall when resting on a mantelpiece. The glass is clear and bright, with only minimal age-related signs, adding to its authentic character.
Overall, the mirror is in very nice condition for its age and has a replacement backing, ensuring it is sound and ready for use. A handsome and timeless piece, well suited to a fireplace surround, hallway, or living space.
